The Irresistible Ripple of Leadership

A leader operates from a state of inner peace and steps out of his comfort zone for the sake of something bigger, more compelling then he. At first glance this sounds contradictory but it is no more so then the fact that a good attention span requires us to be both relaxed and alert at the same time.

In America we have an image of a leader as the person in the front of the room, organizing and directing others. The truth however is that a true leader is someone who lives strongly as a leader in their own life and who also empowers those around them to become leaders. As I have grown in my own leadership skills, I have noticed a huge change in my husband's perception of events in his life and an upward trend in his happiness level. My 20 year old daughter likewise is learning to recognize and ask for what she needs, rather then taking care of everyone and everything in order to be liked by all.

As you model leadership in your day to day life, the ripple effect is a law of nature. It is vital to the goal of world peace that we all start with ourselves. If you model leadership to your children, they will develop strength of character, and live a more joyful, meaningful life. That is the best gift you could possibly give them. As I model leadership to my staff, students, and clients, no matter my words they notice and internalize many of these traits. As healthy leaders, we can not help but attract healthy and loving relationships in our lives.

As members of humanity we all have blind spots, and times in our life when we lose our focus. That is why it is important to have support and allies in our journey, that neutral eye who can point you in a direction, ask insightful questions, and share observations. We also have deeply hidden limiting beliefs which can sabotage us

and without any awareness on our part, impact our day to day decisions. When that voice we all have that instructs and criticizes us is quiet, and we get out of our own way, our true nature, our magnificence can shine through. When we are 100% living in the present moment, have a crystal clear vision of where we want to go and are fully committed to that vision, life feels effortless.

Ingredients in this delicious leadership recipe include deep inner peace, authenticity (walking our talk), conscious choice, integrity, and self love. Mix in the ability to listen to spirit or intuition (our inner guidance system) and leave out ego. Fold in discovery of, and living with purpose. Sprinkle with the perception that bad days are actually character building days packed with important life lessons.

I have come to realize that leadership is not a destination but a journey and that I continuously evolve, and radiate light as I travel this road. If more of us were to embark on this journey and awaken the leader within us, we could ripple strength and peace to our family, our individual communities, and our world at large. It all starts with us and inner work! Allow your light to shine brightly.
